J-Basics Vox Pops - Fall 2024

Oberlin College and Conservatory is made up of two schools, as the name suggests. College students pursue a variety of degrees in the liberal arts, while conservatory students, colloquially known as con students, study music. We wanted to find out what differences between college and con students have been observed by Obies.

Class is a huge portion of college life, and for many
students, it is important to pick courses taught by “good” professors. Since Rate My Professor
functions as a principal resource for students, we were curious if students really use the site and
whether they believe it to be reliable. First we asked the students about the site.

With the divide between Democrats and Republicans becoming increasingly polar, the upcoming presidential election is looking more and more uncertain.

From the building of a new dorm known as West, set to open in the fall of 2025, as the college tries to phase out off campus housing. To redoing half of Wilder Hall, a center for student gathering, faculty offices, the mail room, and two dining options. To a sustainable infrastructure program in a quest to be carbon neutral by 2025.

Student clubs and organizations are very important to the lives of students at Oberlin. Our roles
within the clubs and organizations can be very different, and for most students, it is very
possible for their involvement to change throughout their time here.
