In a story by Kartik Ranagedhan, published by the Oberlin Review, the beginnings of construction on Woodland Street were announced. Woodland Street would be a new dorm aimed at housing upperclassmen students, meant to divert students away from village housing.

Hi, my name is Belle Robles, my pronouns are she her, and I'm a first year student here at Oberlin. In a story by Kartik Ranagedhan, published by the Oberlin Review, the beginnings of construction on Woodland Street were announced. Woodland Street would be a new dorm aimed at housing upperclassmen students, meant to divert students away from village housing.
A popular college-owned housing option that includes small domestic style houses, as well as several styles of apartments. There... There are nearly 60 houses that cater to this demographic, and they currently house around 422 students. To maintain this system, Oberlin the College owns a large number of houses in the town, in part dominating Oberlin's rental market, and in some cases encouraging other property owners independent of the college to rent to students as well.
The introduction of Woodland Street mostly impacts current underclassmen, due to finish its construction in 2025. In order to gauge public opinion on this development, we went to students directly to ask what they think. Here's what they said. You know, have outstanding circumstances like they're married or have a child and we were wondering if you have any thoughts on that. I personally think that having the option for like more housing would be a good thing considering how Oberlin over enrolls, but I don't think that would necessitate them phasing out off campus housing.
I think if people want the option to do that, they should have that option. Uh, I mean, it's already hard enough to get off campus housing. I mean, we're juniors and We tried, but it fills up first time slot. It's really impossible to get off campus housing anyway, so... I guess. I don't think it'll make too much of a difference.
